Trim MP3
Trim an MP3 or any other audio file down to the part you actually need. Mark the start and the end on the waveform, then export the trimmed file - nothing is uploaded.
How to trim an MP3
- 01
Open the file
Drop an MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC or OGG file onto the waveform. It stays on your device.
- 02
Mark start and end
Drag the two handles until only the section you want to keep is selected.
- 03
Export the trimmed file
Download it in one click. Add more handle pairs to trim several parts at once.
Trimming is a copy, not a conversion
A trim at container level copies the audio data instead of decoding and re-encoding it. Nothing is regenerated, so there is no generation loss and no waiting: a two-hour MP3 trims as fast as a three-minute one. Free exports stay in the original format; Pro can re-encode to MP3, AAC or Opus when a smaller file matters more than the original stream.
Trim MP3 for ringtones, voice notes and intros
The two most common trims are the first thirty seconds of a song for a ringtone, and the useful part of a voice memo or a podcast intro. Both are two-handle jobs: no cutting, no chaptering, no editing timeline to learn.
Trim MP3 vs cut MP3 vs split MP3
Trim keeps one part and discards the rest. Cut removes a section and keeps everything around it. Split turns one file into many tracks. If you need more than one piece out of the file, the splitter page is the better fit - this page is built for the single-selection job.
Does trimming change the tags?
No. The ID3 tags of the source are written into the trimmed clip, so the title, artist and cover art come along. Only the audio range changes.

Questions
- Is trimming the same as re-recording?
- No. The audio data is copied at the container level, so nothing is re-encoded and the quality is untouched.
- Can I trim several parts at once?
- Yes. Add more handle pairs and every trimmed piece is exported together in one pass.
- Does it work for long recordings?
- Yes. MP3, WAV, M4A and AAC have no fixed length limit here because they are never decoded as a whole. FLAC and OGG cap out at roughly two hours inside a browser tab.
- Can I trim an MP3 on my phone?
- Yes, it runs in any modern mobile browser. Precise handle placement is easier on a larger screen.
- Is this MP3 trimmer free?
- Yes. Trimming, unlimited clips and unlimited exports in the original format are free - no account, no watermark, no ads. Pro is a one-time $19.90 purchase that adds batch ZIP export, CUE / chapters export and re-encoding to MP3, AAC or Opus.
- What is the difference between trimming and splitting an MP3?
- Trimming keeps one section and discards the rest. Splitting produces several separate tracks from one file. Both run on the same engine here.
